About Us
“PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE”
Hippocrates (460–370 BC)
An ancient saying, a timeless lesson, a value that remains as relevant today as ever. It reflects a need that the team of the Intermunicipal Center for the Prevention of Addictions “Faethon” strives to address every day with dedication and openness. Through experiential activities and interactive group programs, they engage students, educators, and families alike, fostering awareness, resilience, and meaningful support within the community.
CENTRE OPERATIONS
The “Faethon” Prevention Centre is actively engaged in promoting psychosocial well-being and preventing addictive behaviours within the local community.
Its initiatives are addressed to children, adolescents, parents, educators, and adults, through prevention programs, awareness activities, experiential workshops, and counseling support services.
All interventions are based on scientifically validated prevention methods and are implemented both at the Centre’s premises and within schools, associations, and community organizations.
The Centre’s scientific staff collaborates closely with local organizations and educational institutions, strengthening initiatives that foster social cohesion, awareness, and prevention.
OUR WORK
All services provided by the “Faethon” Prevention Centre are offered free of charge and are delivered by specialized scientific professionals.
The Centre provides:
- experiential workshops for students
- experiential workshops for teachers and educators
- parent support groups
- community awareness and outreach activities
- counseling and psychological support services
Within the school community, experiential workshops utilize educational materials that are officially approved by the Ministry of Education.
The overall aim is to strengthen key life skills such as empowerment, empathy, creativity, prevention awareness, communication, and solidarity—contributing to the prevention of addictions and the development of a cohesive and supportive society.
Philosophy
Our interventions with what we refer to as “target groups” are grounded in the belief that the way adults relate to and behave toward children reflects the expectations and vision we hold for the future, both as individuals and as a society.
The quality of relationships between children and parents, as well as between children and educators, provides the foundation upon which effective prevention work can be built.
